Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a frequent and important way to improve the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. item upgrader can be a good source of extra damage and more AD or even more attaches.
Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item that they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. However, it's important be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than before.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and they all have different effects. Certain upgrades give armor an extra amount of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade an item can be given, as illustrated below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges in order to be used. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are constantly updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest method of upgrading armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be found through exploring the surroundings and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more costly, however, it is available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are well worth the cost.
Upgrading a piece of armor to max upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense capabilities however, the user must be aware that increasing its weight can drastically decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The defensive boost gained generally isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. For example an upgrade can increase the damage dealt by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of a rifle that snipes. Certain weapons come with special upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed to cause more damage) are two examples.
The majority of weapon upgrades require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars are required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade weapon and equipment sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could continue doing this until you reached a max upgrade level of the weapon or equipment, after which upgrades would reset.
It's still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear with low upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. They will also be able to give you the most prestigious perks and blessings.
Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they most often use to help them level up quicker. Additionally players, they should think about upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their teammates to increase their power as well. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are placed in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a table. The higher the tier of the gemstone is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a jewel can be improved by the Jeweler, with stages that range from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the gem, it will provide a different stat boost when slotted into gear, weapons and jewelry.
The Jeweler can craft the highest levels of gems with the exception of rare and legendary ones that require a certain level to get. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped with another identical jewel without destroying the original one. However you can only swap out one jewel in an equipment piece once.
It is normal to use more jewelry for aesthetic reasons. In addition to improving performance, the diamonds create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be swapped, but they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis can't be exchanged, and can only be retrieved through an upgrade extractor or salvaging with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a great way to give your character many small, but beneficial, advantages. They can be obtained in the beginning areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by doing road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak. It grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and evasion. The player can then acquire rings, amulets and necklaces, in a similar way similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be placed in any type of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This enables the hero to be more effective when not active, and can also help fill in the void of a strong team or any talent tree slots which would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's often more beneficial to upgrade one crucial stat than two subpar ones.
Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one prior to the beginning of the game. Top and mid players however, will choose a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have an impact on a hero's ability to control the map.
In addition to the items listed above, players will find other trinkets in the form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, like completing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. They can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
